Donor FAQs

Wildflower Windmills Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting autistic children and their families by providing keep-the-items sensory grants. Our approach is community-driven, trauma-informed, and centered on dignity and accessibility.

Learn more about what it means to donate.

How are donations used?

Donations support:

  • Sensory items for children (such as noise-reducing headphones, weighted blankets, and regulation tools)

  • Shipping or local distribution of items

  • Basic operational costs that allow us to run programs responsibly

As an early-stage organization, we focus on building strong systems first so that future funding can go directly toward sensory grants.

Do you require families to provide medical records or proof of diagnosis?

No. We intentionally do not require medical records, proof of diagnosis, or professional referrals. Families know their children best, and our intake process is designed to minimize barriers and protect dignity.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Wildflower Windmills Foundation is organized as a nonprofit operating exclusively for charitable purposes. Once our 501(c)(3) status is approved, donations will be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors will always receive a written acknowledgment for their records.

Can I make a restricted donation?

Restricted donations may be accepted when the restriction aligns with our mission and program capacity. We review restricted gifts carefully to ensure they can be honored responsibly.

Do you accept in-kind donations?

Yes, we may accept in-kind donations that align with our mission and current needs. Examples include sensory items or supplies. We do not assign monetary value to in-kind donations for tax purposes.

Will I receive a receipt or acknowledgment?

Yes. All donations—monetary and in-kind—are acknowledged in writing in a timely manner. Acknowledgments include required tax language.

Do donors receive reports or updates?

We share high-level updates about our work and impact when possible. We do not share identifying information about children or families, and we do not require families to provide reports as a condition of receiving support.

How is Wildflower Windmills Foundation governed?

The Foundation is overseen by a Board of Directors with clear financial controls, conflict-of-interest safeguards, and documented policies to ensure ethical stewardship of funds.

How can I get involved beyond donating?

There are many ways to support our work, including:

  • Sharing our mission within your community

  • Participating in future fundraising efforts

  • Exploring volunteer or advisory opportunities as they become available
